Would be great to try using 40 SSB sometime in the future for the ALL CARF checkin. Prop on 75 not real great at that time of day!
It would be nice to have a 40 meter net a little later in the day, but finding net control stations could be a problem. I have only been on the net for 5 years, and most of the net control stations are the same men manning their post. That is a great commitment, especially when life tends to throw us off track with weather conditions, health conditions, or countless other situations. Then it becomes harder to call or check in to a net.
To add a 40, or 20 meter net means someone has to coordinate a time slot, frequency, and then recruit net control stations for that net, as well as stimulate interest for that particular net. Just to see if anyone will come. Most of us are retired, but that does not mean we just sit around and wait for something to do. The melon patch is full of “Honey Due’s.”
Is anyone interested in getting this project underway?

I would strongly support trying 40 SSB for the 2014 for all check in day. For sure the prop on 40 should allow a potential more stations the opportunity to check in and probably, anyone currently that can work 75 can work 40. This would have to be communicated to the membership.
Hello, I had joined CARF while I was a Technician. I have recently upgraded to General, and a 40 meter net would be great. I would enjoy checking in, and or relaying traffic. My QTH is in Tulsa, and I am working on a new antenna that may help me have a better signal out & less noise for receive than a standard dipole. Part of my situation is that my antenna system has to be completely portable as I am renting a house, so no 40 meter yagi’s or large antenna arrays here.
FYI, that’s my photo on the home page you all have, Coyote Fur hat giving the thumbs up. I seem to remember that I gave permission to use it anyway. I’m surprised you may have or do not have a net via echo-link. I don’t use echo-link but I have made contacts using it with another ham some years ago. I am not set up with a Linear amplifier, just 100 watt’s max. And, I am not set up to do other digital modes like rtty or psk-31 although I have a rig blaster interface, never could get it to work properly.
Should you start a 40 meter net, or even a 20 meter net, send me a note so I can check in…
